Support campus food service workers in Toronto! Sign the petition!

March 22, 2012

Over five hundred campus food service workers at the University of Toronto, York University, and York’s Schulich School of Business are now in negotiations for new union contracts. These workers, many of whom are women, immigrants and people of colour, work for two global food service corporations, Aramark and Compass.

Despite being an integral part of the university community, too many campus food service workers are stuck working for close to minimum wage, in part-time positions, with inadequate or no benefits for themselves or their families.

We can do better than this at York and U of T. Whether we are students, or teachers, or workers – we are ALL part of the university community and, as such, we ALL deserve respect for the contributions we make.

Sign the petition and help send a message – campus food service workers deserve our respect!
